Pumpkin seed

Back some time ago when we carved the pumpkins for Halloween we saved the seeds. I actually wanted to  dry them and color them and use them for projects, but nature beat me to them first. K and I noticed that the seeds were growing inside the plastic bag. Only the side that was on the counter was growing the top side was not. So moisture and darkness will make the seeds sprout.. Strange considering I thought that sunlight was part of the growing process. The girls really wanted to plant the seeds they have been asking forever. So I figured why not. It can't be the right season for planting these seeds, but we went though the process. I started off digging all the holes but soon realized that this hole digging thing was a long process. So then I got the hoe out and made 2 rows and the girls dropped their bag of about 70 seeds into the rows and we covered them back up. I am anxious to see what happens. .Will winter kill them off, will the grow and we have MANY MANY pumpkins.. Who knows.. But the girls are excited they have been planted.

Fall

IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN! FALL!!! I love fall. The weather is doing a nice change, the leaves are quickly turning red and yellow and then off the trees. It's mostly a calming season for me before the hecticness of WINTER comes. Don't get me wrong I like winter also, the bundling, the snow, Christmas, family time when schools on break. One of the things that I have done the last couple of years is take the kids to the Fall picture trees. We have this area where the trees (bushes) change to a nice red/orange/yellow color and I take their pics. I tried yesterday but apparently had camera issues, so we tried again today and I had kid issues (with one). I have decided that it's really not about getting that perfect shot that we all try to make its about the moment.. Yesterdays moment was great moods, todays moment was crying, laughing and making memories. Here are a couple of pics.

Halloween

I am going to write to my senators and demand that they change the calendar to always have halloween on the last Friday of Oct. It should NEVER and I repeat NEVER be on a school day. This was in fact the longest week of school. I believe that the children had candy every night for dinner and probably some for breakfast before they came to us to sit quietly and listen and BEHAVE! We also had a field trip on halloween and after this week that seems so long ago. =)

Now on another note... I guess I am lucky in that my own children are not big candy eaters. I let them have 3 pieces of candy on halloween and K hasn't had any since and E gets a piece in her lunch box. For the most part I have calm, happy children without the sugar hype. After I got out of school E and I went to my parents to pick up K and get dressed for some trick-or-treating. The plan was to go to my grandparents and then back home to hand out candy. Well, my mom suggested going to the church up the street for their fall fest and trunk or treat  and then went to my grandparents. Ry called me about 7 and asked what to do...for he was all out of candy and only gave them 1 piece each. THATS 2 BIG BAGS OF CANDY!  It was a late night and the kids didn't get into bed until about 1.5 hrs after bed time. =(

The Dance Off

 Today at church we had Fun Fest. I have never been and if E wasn't performing then I honestly wouldn't have gone tonight. The place was BUSY. Last year they had 5,000+ and I am interested in what was there this year. E and K really wanted to do the trunk or treat but that line was massive and they wanted to do the petting zoo and pony rides but by the time that got set up it was time for E to go find her teacher and SHOW TIME!. We did do some of the bouncy slides/houses and look at the petting zoo animals. E has been attending a mission class on wednesday nights (dance) and tonight was their spotlight. They got to perform on the Levitt stage. (a nice outside stage where we get to go to 50 free concerts in the fall and spring) I was kinda worried about her going up there and then seeing all the people and freezing but she did great. K also did her own dancing when the other dance
     schools were on stage doing their thing and I have to say K's was a little more entertaining. Here are          some pics from today! Enjoy
