Sunday Fun day

Since I have been feeling a little under the weather last week I wanted to just hang at home and rest and relax and have some fun with the girls. We had a wedding to attend Saturday night and the girls got a much needed break from us and spent the night with my parents. Thanks mom and dad. The plan was to pick them up after church and bring them home however, since we got in so late Saturday and I was still exhausted from the week mom and dad brought them to me after church and I played hooky this Sunday. The girls and I haven't spent much time just hanging out. E begs me to just have her and I time after school every day. But due to the schedule of the week that just doesn't happen. Sunday I decided lets just chill! After they got home from church we did just that! A little cooking, decorating, chalking and outside playing was just what the doc ordered. We had a blast.

Pumpkin carving 1

Tonight at school we are having a pumpkin fest! The kids are super duper excited and usually so I am . I love going up there,  taking the girls and seeing all of our students dressed up. However, this week apparently a virus dressed up as a stomach bug and sinus bug has decided to trick or treat in my body. So I am a no go for the fun tonight. ;( I was trying to gage the girls reaction last night with "so how about not going to the pumpkin fest tomorrow and instead spend some extra time at "fun fest"? (a HUGE fall carnival with our church) Apparently that didn't go over well and so it was time to call in the reinforcements. A HUGE THANKS goes out to my parents who came over and got the girls to take them for some fun. ( Update: since I have been typing this, the girls came home and had a BLAST)

One of the things that is new this year is a pumpkin carving contest. Emma was excited about this and really wanted to enter. (she also has a little bit of both her parents competitiveness and really wanted to win) So, to add to the week that has already been hectic along with me being sick we needed to fit in a pumpkin carving night. We ended up carving it last night and picked up the final touches (flashing color light) today.  Here are some pictures of our pumpkin and costumes for tonight. ENJOY!
The beginning of the pumpkin fun- The best news is that they
are getting old enough now that they can almost gut it completely. =)
ewwww

YUCK!

K did great.. Loved every bit and very determined to get the last string

look mom at all the seeds.

E checking out if K is leaving any for her

Fun times!

Check out this hand full.

NO DON"T TOUCH ME!

Our finished pumpkin-Which I must say WON Scariest tonight!
E and K came home and were super excited!

It's all the tired faces.. Pumpkin carving is hard work -especially when it's after bed time.

Columbus Day

Hip hip hooray we had Columbus day off from school. I am pretty sure most of us were taught the same thing about Mr. Columbus... had 3 ships, made several voyages, discovered new land all good. Well apparently some people were taught something different. Apparently he was BAD, a murder, a thief etc... I can't believe this is so. So I am going to do a little research to find out the true story of Christopher Columbus, if there is one out there.

Since my daughters and I didn't have school E has been asking to go visit her old kindergarten teacher whom everyone from now on will have to live up to =) Last year I had her at a different school and they didn't get the day off. I didn't have much planned for this day so I packed us up and off to visiting we went. E's teacher didn't get a conference time until 12;30. We were very anxious to get this done (I mean have this nice visit) and was at the school by 11:40 so we had some time to kill. I saw this art project for fall hereLeafStainedGlass_JV_2   and decided that the college would be good for leaf findings. This is the only place that I know of around here that has trees that have nice red/yellow/orange leaves. Since we do live in Texas most of our leaves or brown or green. (so if your a nice northern person and so kindly find it in your heart to mail us some of your nice pretty color fall leaves I have 2 children who would love you forever ;) I decided to throw everybody for a loop and turn left instead of right.. Much to the dismay of E who insisted it was time to visit! We decided to go on a exploration of the campus ground (even though the mud since we FINALLY got RAIN) and came upon many cool things. One thing was noticeable. The grounds man really keeps the ground free of leaves. ;( not a leaf around. (that was worthwhile) We had a great visit at the college, saw the turtles, looked for the monarchs, found new trial beds, talked with the grounds keeper about plants that like to eat bugs and found where the fairies live when they don't visit the nice homes kids make for them. We also had a nice visit with E's Kinder teacher and afterwards made a stop at my grandparents for some more fun. Here are some pics of our Columbus Day fun.
exploring the college

can you explore without stepping in the mud??

Katelyn talking to the fairies

Look at the fairy village!

K checking out the turtles

E deciding what was planted where

We have a fascination for the fuzzy plant whatever it is

Cantaloupe.. K wanted to know why they were't big like in the store.

There was a surprise at pawpaw and mawmaw's when we got there. The girls
named her Tiny.. She is a stray and followed the girls next door home. She is sooo sweet.
The more that I look at her she looks like a mix between
a terrier, chihuahua, and a dachshund she kinda looks like this
Frankie, the Toy Rat Doxie at 1½ years old, at 8 inches and about 10 pounds (Dachshund / Rat Terrier hybrid)
This is a Toy Rat Doxie a mix of the above without the chihuahua . They are AKC recognized.

October

Happy Halloween sorta of. Ok so Happy Fall! Now only if it would feel like fall it would be great. I love October! A couple of reasons are... 1) Fall is officially here 2) Hopefully cooler weather. I am all about jeans and sweaters! 3) Pumpkins Pumpkins and more Pumpkins 4) Halloween 5) it's that much closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas.

This week I decided to hurry fall weather along and bring out the fall clothes. Luckily as long as the girls don't hit a growth spurt this fall/winter most of their clothes from last year still fit. I only need to pick up a couple of things and we are set for fall. As I do live in Texas there closets kinda look crowded as I have left some shorts out since we could still get a 90 degree day or 2 or 3 =).

On the K school front I think, hope, and pray that I have found her a new school. I am waiting for a call back so we can meet with the principal. This would be beneficial all the way around. Even better they go though the 9th grade and will add a grade every year. Not that I plan on having her there all the time but at least through kinder (if I can't get a transfer).

Today was a rainy day! Whoo hooo RAIN! It rained all night and till around lunch today. I am so excited as were the girls. They couldn't wait to get out of church and puddle jump. So, as soon as church ended and lunch was had they put on their rain boots and headed out doors. Here are some pics from our puddle jumping day!

K showing off her jumping

E wasn't about to be outdone

More jumping. They jumped till all the water was gone
